Reliance JioPhone: How to book the handset.

 Reliance Industries just launched its new feature phone, called as the JioPhone. Although the handset has been introduced by the company chairman Mukesh Ambani at the 40th Reliance Annual General Meeting, there is still some time before users can get hands on it.
The JioPhone, as Ambani said, will be hitting the shelves in September. The company has not yet announced the exact date yet. However, you can still book your JioPhone before September.

To call dibs on the handset you can pre-book the JioPhone using the My JIO app. They can also visit a Jio retailer from August 24. It is worth mentioning that the Reliance Jio Phone will be up for pre-orders starting August 24. It will be available in September in the first-come-first-serve basis.
At the annual general meeting, Ambani said the 'effective price' of the feature phone is Rs 0. Users instead, will have to pay a refundable security deposit of Rs 1,500. The amount will be refunded to them after three years, which is in 2020. He says that the security deposit is to prevent the potential misuse of data.

Jio Phone runs on VoLTE network and comes with a host of pre-installed services such as JioTV and JioCinema apps. The device also has its own digital assistant along with the support for voice commands. It also comes with support for 24 Indian languages. Reliance says that users can long press on the '5' key to directly call their near and dear ones. Furthermore, the company will bring NFC feature on Jio-branded phones as well later this year. The feature will arrive as part of a software update.
The device was announced alongside a few low-priced Jio 4G plans at the Reliance Industries AGM. On the Jio Phone, voice calls will always remain free, said Ambani. Users will also get access to unlimited data on the device. These, in addition to Jio apps (Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan plan) will cost users Rs 153 per month.
