In preparation for the release of the iPhone 8, Samsung is ramping up production of its OLED panels that will be in the newest flagship from Apple.

The report comes from ETNews, which revealed Samsung is kicking off production of the OLED panels at seven production lines to full capacitythis month. Samsung Display is the lone supplier of OLED panels Apple is using for this generation of iPhones.
Each production line usually manufactures around 15,000 panels per month, but that number is rising to 105,000 panels to keep up with demand. That’s a production spike of 700-percent.
At maximum capacity and with 100-percent yield rate, Samsung Display can produce up to 130 million 5.8-inch OLED displays a year. But OLED displays are difficult to produce at a mass scale, bringing down the yield rate closer to “at least” 60-percent, according to the report. This is leading to concerns about iPhone 8 shortages due to production delays when it becomes available in the fall.
Apple isn’t standing pat with the production concerns looming beyond just this year. It invested $2.6 billion into LG Display to help handle the massive production load of OLED displays as Apple begins using them for every single iPhone model in the future.
No one seems to want a new tablet, but Asus is going to keep making them anyway. The company just introduced its new ZenPad 3S 8.0 at Computex this week. It follows the ZenPad 3 8.0 tablet that Asus released last year. The new tablet has some slight spec boosts, like more memory and an upgrade to Android Nougat. The company hasn’t put out official details on the device, but PhoneRadar got the specs: So thanks to PhoneRadar Snapdragon 625 processor4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of storage7.9-inch, 1536 x 2048 display13-megapixel rear-facing camera, 5-megapixel front-facing cameraAndroid 7.1 Nougat We don’t have pricing or an exact release date. I’m not sure how many people are looking for a middle-of-the-road tablet, but maybe there’s someone out there for Asus, although the company has tough competition from Apple with its new $329 iPad .
